At Global, we know that intelligence and understanding can - and should - be expressed in multiple ways.  It is why we invest ourselves and our students in a lively program of arts education.  Evidence of our students' talent and confidence in self-expression abounds - and we couldn't be prouder.

Visual Arts

The Visual Art curriculum follows the pedagogy of TAB: Teaching for Artistic Behavior, a methodology that is student-focused, choice-based and teacher-facilitated. The learning environment is designed to provide centers or mini art studios complete with instructional information, menus, resources, materials and tools. Students move independently between centers, utilizing materials, tools and resources as needed in their art making, such as painting, clay or printmaking. Centers are arranged to provide students with independent learning opportunities.

We value the process our children experience of making and thinking about visual art as well as our students as the artists. It is the responsibility of the art teacher to guide students through the art curriculum in an engaging and thought-provoking way. We take pride in the intentional integration of art within core subject learning. Each year, we display each grade-level’s artwork at our annual Art Exhibition at the year-end, where almost every surface of the school is covered in with student creations using Studio Habits of Mind.

Performing Arts:  Music, Drama, Dance

Our performing arts program reflects our commitment to a well-rounded liberal arts education with a focus on each student’s creative expression. All students take general music that emphasizes creativity, music appreciation, musical literacy and performance preparation. The music program provides many opportunities for individual growth and fosters every child’s innate love of music.
